Shuhei Fukuda is currently researching traditional Japanese painting and exploring approach­es to the world using traditional techniques and materials. Fukuda is interested in the relationship between material variability and the world within the framework of the aging process of the material substance.

The works’ appearance is in constant change, influenced by their surroundings and the silver leaf’s underlying treatment. Since the opening of the exhibition, Quiet Colors, in April 2023, the works have changed their appearance to a warmer, more patinated look.
