Info

Vintage Cachan wall lamp by Serge Mouille, designed in 1957 for the bedrooms of a residence for young workers in Cachan, near Paris.

Originally produced exclusively for this housing project, the lamp was never commercially marketed and was only made for a brief period. With approximately 200 examples believed to have been produced in the 1950s, the Cachan remains one of Mouille’s rarer lighting designs.

This example is an original 1950s production. Made in black-painted metal, the lamp combines an upper spherical light, which casts a soft glow towards the ceiling, with a cone-shaped reflector directing light downwards. The result is both functional and highly graphic, with a sculptural form that feels unmistakably Mouille.

Original vintage condition with patina and wear consistent with age.
